Stay Protected: What to Know and Do in Case of a Data Breach

Modified on Fri, 11 Jul at 2:29 PM

While we take every precaution to keep your data safe, it’s important to know what to do if your personal or financial information is ever accessed without permission.

What Is a Data Breach?

A data breach occurs when someone gains unauthorised access to your personal, financial, or account data. This could involve:

  • Lost or stolen data

  • Hacked accounts

  • Exposed card or ID information

  • Suspicious transactions on your account

What Should You Do If Your Data Has Been Breached?

Take these steps immediately:

  1. Change your passwords – especially for financial services or apps.

  2. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your accounts if available.

  3. Monitor your transactions and report any unfamiliar activity to your bank or Embedder.

  4. Contact the Embedder or Weavr to confirm the breach and get guidance.

  5. Notify your bank or card provider to consider additional security steps.

  6. Inform your local authority or law enforcement if you suspect fraud or identity theft.

What Weavr and Embedders Will Do

In the event of a breach, we:

  • Act immediately to contain the breach.

  • Launch a full investigation with technical experts.

  • Work with affected third parties to secure systems and data.

  • If required, report the breach to regulators and affected users.

  • Update our policies, training, and tools to prevent future incidents.

How to Report a Suspected Breach

If you think your data has been compromised or you’ve received a suspicious message:

  • Contact the Embedder providing the service.

  • Email Weavr directly at support@weavr.io.

  • Include as much detail as possible (e.g., time, device used, what you observed).

  • You can also reach out to your local data protection authority for support.

Staying Secure: Ongoing Best Practices

To reduce your risk:

  • Never share your passwords or PINs.

  • Use strong, unique passwords for each account.

  • Don’t access financial apps or websites on public Wi-Fi.

  • Always update your apps and devices to the latest version.

  • Be wary of emails or messages asking for personal or payment information.
